THE TRAGICALLY HIP TRIBUTE BANNER UNVEILED
Rogers K-Rock Centre is proud to announce the venue now features a permanent tribute honouring The Tragically Hip. A specially designed 32′ foot long banner has been installed above the seating area acknowledging Kingston’s hometown heroes and the band’s most recent performance. That occurred on August 20th, 2016 when the nation tuned in to watch The Tragically Hip close out the Man Machine Poem Tour on the Rogers K-Rock Centre stage.
When notified of the new addition to Rogers K-Rock Centre, the band released the following statement, “We are honored to call Kingston home, and we are grateful to the Rogers K-Rock Centre for this tribute.”
“The Tragically Hip have made tremendous contributions to our country and the Kingston community in particular through their music and philanthropy” says Mayor Bryan Paterson. “It’s great that there will now be a permanent tribute prominently displayed in the Rogers K-Rock Centre.”
The banner background design is the overlaid images of all 34,780 words from every song released by The Tragically Hip. General Manager Lynn Carlotto states, “It’s so appropriate that every artist taking our stage will now look up to see this lasting tribute to Kingston’s own The Tragically Hip. The Rogers K-Rock Centre and The Hip are indelibly connected and we could not be more grateful.”
