Box Office Procedural UPDATE
TICKETS FOR EVENTS OTHER THAN KINGSTON FRONTENACS WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLY ON-LINE AND BY PHONE ON FIRST DAY OF SALES
Rogers K-Rock Centre fans will find a new box office policy in effect for all upcoming concert and entertainment events. Going forward, tickets will only be available for purchase online and by phone on the first day concert and entertainment event tickets are available for purchase. Fans looking to purchase tickets on the first day of sales will only be able to do so online at www.ticketmaster.ca, or by phone at 1-855-985-5000. This will mean that the box office will no longer sell tickets the first day tickets are available for purchase. The Rogers K-Rock Centre box office will now begin selling tickets for these events on the next business day following the first day of sales.
Kingston Frontenacs ticket sales will not be affected by this change in procedure. Frontenac fans will continue to be able to purchase tickets for upcoming games at the box office during regular box office hours.
“Technology has completely changed the ticketing industry,” said SMG Canada’s General Manager of the Rogers K-Rock Centre, Lynn Carlotto. “With the overwhelming number of people currently buying tickets on their computer or mobile, the speed of selling tickets has dramatically increased. If you look at our last on sale, Jason Aldean, 96 percent of tickets were purchased via web, phone, outlet, and the Ticketmaster mobile app. That was merely 60 percent a few short years ago.” Carlotto also stated, “Consider the fact that tickets are being simultaneously purchased in mere seconds over the internet, while people are standing in line at the box office for their chance to buy the same tickets. Since all fans have access to the same tickets, this causes disappointment to the fan in line when tickets sell out shortly after going on-sale.” For those fans not able to purchase through Ticketmaster online, a dedicated telephone line is also available with access to the same tickets on-line fans can purchase.
The new policy will go into effect for the recently announced Santana concert on April 21st. Tickets will go on sale to the general public via phone, web, and outlets at 10am on Friday, January 22nd. The Rogers K-Rock Centre box office will make tickets available starting Monday, January 25th at 9am.
- I’ve heard there are specific seats held for box office, phone, and internet sales. Is this true?
Not true. All channels (telephone, internet, box office, outlet) are accessing the same inventory. No one channel has seats reserved for their sale, and all sales occur on a first-come first-serve basis.
- How can I purchase online or by phone without a credit card?
If you have a newer debit card with a major credit card logo (example: VISA DEBIT) you can use this to purchase online, just like a credit card. Just choose the matching credit card type during your payment. Pre-paid cards which have been activated by the card holder are also accepted.
Note: It’s also an advantage to have prepaid cards registered in the event of a cancellation and the fan has thrown away the credit card. We encourage fans to hang on to the prepaid credit cards until the event has actually taken place.
- I want to purchase specific seat locations, can I do this online?
Seat locations for most shows can be chosen using the Ticketmaster Integrated Seating Map. However, for many on sales these maps are disabled in order to speed up the transaction time. Requesting best available tickets is recommended. If you would like to attempt to purchase specific seats, you can do so by talking with a Ticketmaster phone sales agent. Keep in mind that requesting specific locations will take longer than requesting the best available seats.
- I’m looking to purchase accessible seating for a show, how can I do this?
Accessible seats are not available online, but can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 855-985-5000 and speaking directly with a phone sales agent.
